Workshop to Help New Mexican Business Apply for Grants to Offset Effects of Wildfires

An online workshop scheduled for Thursday will help New Mexico businesses affected by some of the largest wildfires in state history apply for grants of up to $20,000.
Registration for the information session is available online.

The grant program, announced last weekend by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, will offer financial assistance to business owners and the self-employed whose businesses were physically damaged or saw reduced revenue due to recent wildfires.

A total of $1.5 million is available through the Wildfire Business Assistance Grant Program, which was established by the state's Economic Development Department.

To qualify for priority assistance, businesses must be inside the boundaries of an area outlined in a Presidential Disaster Declaration for the Big Hole, Calf Canyon/Hermit’s Peak, Cooks Peak and McBride wildfires. Those areas are Colfax, San Miguel, and Mora Counties, parts of Lincoln County in the 88345 and 88312 ZIP codes, the portion of Valencia County in the 87002 ZIP code and regions of Sandoval and Los Alamos counties impacted by wildfires and evacuations.

Businesses must also show they:
• Are legally operating in New Mexico
• Have either a business address located in an area impacted by the wildfires, or show that a majority of business takes place in an area impacted by wildfire
• Experienced damage to business property from the wildfires, or experienced loss of revenue because of the wildfires.

Eligible businesses can qualify to receive between $5,000 and $20,000. To receive more than $5,000, businesses must provide an insurance claim showing fire damage or provide proof of revenue decline due to the wildfires. The money can be used for construction and repair costs, operating capital, asset purchases and administrative costs.

The application portal will be open for two weeks starting on Aug. 15 and ending Aug. 26. The program will close after the money is allocated or on Dec. 1.

Keeping things clean!

We have been working closely with the companies who we partner with to clean our branches and Operations Center to ensure that we are properly cleaning and disinfecting. We have confirmed that our cleaning team is in compliance with the CDC recommendations regarding properly cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. They have made the following statement:

"Please be confident we are taking all necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus or any other virus.  As a result, we are enhancing our cleaning procedures in the interest of our customers' health and safety. As early as this week, we will be using Hillyard Re-Juv-Nal, our EPA approved, hospital-grade disinfectant on high-touch surfaces in your building. These surfaces include: light switches, door handles, door frames, all restroom surfaces, breakroom, conference room tables and break area surfaces.  This goes beyond the standard CDC guidelines."

Our employee's and customer's health comes first and is our top priority!

We will continue to provide updates as they are presented to us.

At the moment, New Mexico has confirmed cases of the coronavirus, however, we are taking the necessary steps to help protect both our employees and our customers when visiting our branches.

Ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus?

In the event that we must close a branch location due to the spread of the coronavirus, below are some helpful tips to help ensure our customers can continue to manage their finances accordingly.

How can I make a deposit if I am unable to go into a branch?

  1. Check deposits can be completed by way of our mobile app; click here to learn more. Business customers can, in addition to the mobile app, make check deposits via Remote Deposit Capture if already setup.
  2. Cash deposits must be made inside the branch. However, if you are not feeling well help us protect our employees and other customers by using our drive-thru to complete your deposit.

How can I complete a cash withdrawal from my account?

  1. Visit one of our SWCB ATMs – Click here to find the closest one to you! If there is not a SWCB ATM close by, we encourage you to use any AllPoint ATM and complete a cash withdrawal surcharge FREE Click here to locate the closest one to you.
  2. Cash withdrawals can also be completed at any one of our branches that has a drive-thru
